We enjoyed outstanding and incredibly nice breakfasts and exceptionally good views!
The property was clean and conveniently located close to the train station. The hotel was in a stunning location adjacent to trains and cable cars for car inaccessible areas and a better restaurant called Landgasthof Zur Lilie Stadl. Lucky that it was at a medium distance from Sparky's Grill, offering food to go. We booked a single room with a beautiful bathroom;))

The breakfast buffet was a good surprise with local specialties.
My double room was a bit small, and the noise levels from the restaurant below were quite bothersome at night. The lack of air conditioning meant uncomfortable heat, forcing me to sleep with the windows open, which allowed in bugs. The towels provided were also quite old .

Too expensive, but worth.

It was a cosy hotel with great ambiance. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Extra touches such as fresh fruit in lobby, soap etc in bathroom, fridge in room were very helpful for travelers. The breakfast provided great tastings of bread, cheese etc fro the area and best of all they made real tea for breakfast with tea leaves and offered a second pot!

The Hotel Appenzell impressed me with its charming atmosphere and excellent dining options. Breakfast featured a beautiful spread with freshly baked pastries, local cheeses, and made-to-order eggs. I loved the cozy charm of the dining area. The staff were responsive and provided helpful travel tips. The lack of air conditioning was great. Parking was limited and required a little walking from the car to the hotel. Despite these minor inconveniences, the fine views from my room overlooking the hills and the warm hospitality were good.

The breakfast was outstanding and gorgeous, we were provided with freshly cooked ham and egg dishes, as example. Location: the hotel was just off the restaurant downstairs and the central square and right on the main square.
Pity, but the beds were too soft.

Noise from the square disrupted peaceful moments!!! The limited parking availability is very frustrating and could lead to unnecessary stress while trying to find a spot!!!

Great hotel with expensive but creative and artistic meals in the dining room. The owners are heavily involved in making sure you are well taken care of.

We were warmly greeted by the family owners' son who made us feel right at home immediately. The room was lovely, quiet and had everything we asked for.The staff were all absolutely charming and helpful and the food excellent and nicely presented. The location is just a short walk from the rail station and on the famous square where the annual "parliament" takes place each April. The shops and cafes are very close and the museum more interesting than you might expect. There are some fascinating items to see. The cows were brought down from the mountains the day before we arrived and we saw the goats being brought in by the farmers and young girls in traditional dress.Just before the snow arrived. This is "Heidi land" which we loved!
